Effects of Ozonation in a Pool
Cost Reduction
Ø
Most commercial pools save 40 to 80 percent of their chemical
costs
Ø
Recent installation in Alabama resulted in $22,815 (75 percent
reduction) in four months
Ø
Installation in Cancun of multiple corona units resulted in 50
percent savings at a 2 million gallon pool complex
•
Reduced Shocking
•
Eliminates Odors and Eye Irritation
•
Improves water clarity and quality
•
Enhances effectiveness of chlorine

How is Ozone
Generated?
Corona Discharge: Air which is dried, or air which
is dried and passed through a device which concentrates oxygen from the air is
run through a high voltage arc (5,000 volts and up). The electrons in the field
split some of the oxygen and the individual oxygen atoms recombine with normal
oxygen to produce ozone. Concentrations are typically in the one (1) to ten
(10) percent range.
O2 + High Energy Electrons → O- +O-O2 + O-→O3
| Prozone can offer standard or customized corona
discharge units or treatment packages for almost any water treatment
application |
Oxidation
•
Ozone reacts with bather loading and combined halogens
•
Reduces contaminants to inert compounds or carbon dioxide and water
•
Oxidizes combined halogens
Precipitation
•
Ozone removes metals (iron, manganese, zinc, copper, etc.)
• Oxidized organics
also precipitate
•
Filtration and clarification are enhanced by precipitation
Sanitation/Disinfection
•
Ozone is the most powerful disinfectant available
•
Rapidly kills bacteria and viruses
